James B. Doc Carter, 63, of Roanoke, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 with his family and friends by his side. He was an employee of FedEx Freight. James was preceded in death by his sisters, Nina Croy and Betty Reece. His surviving family includes his wife, Della W. Carter; two daughters, Terrie L. Carter and Tracey Epperly and husband, Kevin; granddaughter, Whitney B. Epperly; grandson, Jayden Davis, all of Roanoke; sister, Emma Williams and husband, Bryan, of Hampton; brother, Tommy Carter and wife, Maxine, of Narrows; and many nieces and nephews. A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral service will then take place on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel with Pastor Gary Butcher officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the House of Prayer at 2521 Portland Avenue, NW in Roanoke, VA 24017. The Carter family is being served by John M.
