Jack G. Farris

Jack G. Farris, 67, passed away on October 16, 2012. He was born on June 6, 1945 in Roanoke, VA, son of the late William Edward and Mary Elizabeth Stover Farris. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Lorrine Carroll and Lois Farris. Jack always thought of others before himself. He was always helping others, and he loved his family and grandchildren very much. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Diane Farris; sons, Jackie Farris and his wife Gail, and Kevin Farris and his girlfriend Shelia; daughters, Janet Mckinnon, Jeanie Bray, and Saprina Bailey and her husband Christopher; brothers, Curtis Farris and his wife Virginia, Clarence Farris and his wife Esther, and Russell Farris and his wife Janie; sisters, Martha Roop, Jean Roberts, Charlotte Hall, Sue Reedy and her husband Larry, and Cathy Carter and her husband Earl; numerous grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service honoring Jacks life will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. John Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the Farris family to help defray funeral expenses.
