Ivory Mae Combs, 93 of Roanoke, VA passed away Friday, November 08, 2013. She was born September 12, 1920 in Carroll County, VA a daughter of the late Frank J. and Alley Phillips Montgomery. She was also preceded in death by her husband Wesley B. Combs; son, Jerry Combs; daughter, Shelby Hall; brothers, Carlos, Ernie, and Billy Montgomery; sisters, Loraine Janney, Bessie Huff and Rosie Phillips; son-in-law, Darrell Burton. Mrs. Combs was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother. She was a member of Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise Church of God where she taught Sunday school for 38 years. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Caleb Club. She is survived by three sons, James Combs and wife, Bertie, Wesley J. Combs, and wife, Joyce and Bobby R. Combs and wife, Martha; daughter, Janice Burton; brothers, Willy Montgomery and Dorsey Montgomery; sisters, Sylvia Turpin and Lucille Gallimore; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Monday, November 11, 2013 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem with Pastor Harry Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery in Floyd County. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
