Irene Woods

Irene Williams Woods, 105, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015. She was born in Craig County, a daughter of the late Mason and Ora Keffer Williams and had been an area resident since 1954. Irene was a public school teacher and enjoyed gardening, crossword and find-a-word puzzles. She was a member of CommUNITY Church in Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie P. Woods, her son, Nelson R. Woods, three brothers, three sisters, four nephews and a niece. She is survived by her loving grandson with whom she made her home, Curt Woods, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Pastor Tom McCracken will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
