Irene Sevant King, 89, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 6, 2015.
She was born in New Jersey, a daughter of the late Jack Sevant and Stella Minnix Sevant and had been an area resident most of her life. She was a long time member of Beacon Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan King, and a brother, Leonard Sevant.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Kim Hubbard and her husband Ron; a son, Mark King; loving sisters, Ruby Sollie and Juanita Musser; four grandchildren, Morgan King, Brittany King, Rachel Hubbard and Karin Hubbard, three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; former daughter-in-law, Brenda King, and dear friends, George and Lois Hubbard, and Betty Lou Foster.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express sincere thanks to her grandson, Morgan, who served as her caregiver during the last months of her life, and to Dr. Karri and the staff of Southern Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Pastor Don Woodard will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
