Inez F. Klein, 91, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012.
She was born in Lexington, TN, a daughter of the late William and Achilles Lancaster Finch and had also resided in New York prior to locating to the Salem/Roanoke area in 1986. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Klein, who died in 2009, and a son, Frank Kendrick Klein, who passed away in 2005.
She earned her college degree in 1942 from the University of Tennessee and a Masters degree in 1960 from Hofstra University in New York. She was a Home Economics teacher for over thirty years prior to retiring, was a lifelong Methodist where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Administrative Council Member and most recently was a devoted member of Bonsack United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player and amateur artist.
She is survived by her daughter, Rev. Candice L. Klein, a son Kevin C. Klein and his wife Mary Mouret, daughter-in-law, Kathleen B. Klein and a granddaughter, Megan K. Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Thursday, April 26, 2012 in the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Tim Tate will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7PM Wednesday and one hour to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bonsack United Methodist Church, 4493 Bonsack Rd. Roanoke, VA 24012 or to the charity of the donors choice.
