India B. Mcdaniel

India B. McDaniel, 71, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late James L. Bowles and Ida Naff Bowles and had been an area resident all of her life. She enjoyed antiquing, quilts, cooking, food, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William N. McDaniel, Jr., who died in 1993, and by a grandson, Todd Christopher McDaniel. She is survived by her children, Melissa McDaniel, Susan McDaniel and Billy McDaniel (Leslie). She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jamie Baird (Amber), Justin McDaniel, India Lavender (Chad), and Hunter McDaniel; four great-grandchildren, Braeden, Ivy, Ember and Trinity, and a brother, James L. Bowles. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1:30 PM, Thursday, May 5, 2016 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Graveside services will follow at 2PM at Sherwood Memorial Park with Pastor Joe Elmore officiating.
