Ida June Stevenson Krzysko, 89, of Salem, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011 at her home. Known by all as June, she was a brilliant artist sharing her gifts by teaching young and old alike to draw and paint, holding classes in her home. June belonged to the Highland Handycrafts Guild, fashioning hickory dolls with exquisite outfits which she sold on the Virginia Parkway. June was a devout Christian and attended Faith Wesleyan Church in Salem where she taught Sunday School for years. She also held Bible studies in her home after she could not attend the church on Sundays. June had a quick wit and could disarm those around her with a few words. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. June is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Raymond Stevenson and Marguerite Stevenson Sheppard; her brother, Ross Stevenson; sister, Faye Stevenson; and her husband, John Joseph Krzysko. She is survived by her loving son, Steve Krzysko and his wife, Barbara; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Jane Humphrey and her husband, Steve, and Ross Steven Krzysko and his partner, Sheri Newbold; nephew, William Stevenson and his wife, Thalia; and cousins, Joanna Keith, Melaney Franklin, and Mary Ellen Putnam. The family would like to thank Elizabeth Hinkley with Amedisys Hospice as well as Sharon Davis and Teresa Webb with Helping Hands as they attended to June in her last days. A period of visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem.
