Holly Gray Goodspeed

Holly Gray Goodspeed, 77, of Salem, Va., formerly of Cedar Mountain, N.C., and Harvard, Mass., passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House in Roanoke, Va.

A lifelong animal lover, she opened her heart and home to many beloved dogs and cats throughout the years. She also enjoyed attending auctions, searching for antiques and collectibles, reading, making jewelry, gardening and settling in for a good game of Scrabble.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David H. Goodspeed; and her parents, John and Nika Gray.

Those left to cherish Holly's memory include her son, Theodore Goodspeed and wife, Katherine, of Roanoke, and their children, Grace and Oliver; her son, Benjamin Goodspeed and wife, Rebecca, of Warner Robins, Ga., and their children, Kylie and Kennedy; her younger sisters, Heather Torres and Hilary Gray; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

Holly's family asks that, in lieu of cards or flowers, those wishing to honor her memory consider making a donation to a local no-kill animal shelter or to Good Samaritan Hospice House in Roanoke, Va.
