Hilda Mowles Ferrell

Hilda Mowles Ferrell, 95, of Salem, Va., passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. She was born on May 30, 1926, to the late Willie P. and Mary Crosswhite Mowles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ferrell; as well as her five siblings and their spouses. She was born in and lived in the same house all her life until moving to Our Lady of the Valley 6 years ago. Numerous nieces and nephews as well as their children will cherish her memory as a caregiver, her love of cats, chocolate, and socializing (playing Tripoli, having dinner and conversations). A celebration of Hildas life will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va. A period of visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Pastor Mike Lauridsen will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter, Our Lady of the Valley, or Good Samaritan Hospice.
