Henry S. Moody, Jr. answered Gods final call on Monday, January 13, 2014. Son of the late Henry S. Moody, Sr. and Annie Louise Childress, he was born on January 22, 1926 in Richmond, VA. He served in the 8th Air Force during WWII as a ball turret gunner on a B-17 flying 35 missions over Germany. He graduated from the University of Richmond and later answered Gods call to the ministry attending Union Theological Seminary. He served six churches in the VA Conference of the United Methodist Church including Mt. Pleasant in Roanoke and Central UMC in Salem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Moody Casey. His surviving family includes his wife of 64 years, Marion MacMillan Moody; siblings, Genevieve Long of Richmond, Ronald H. Moody of Richmond, and Sandra Richardson of Sun City West, AZ; daughters, Beth Elaine Moody of Salem and Christy Moody Davis and her husband, Wayne, of Staunton; grandsons, Cameron and Andrew Davis of Staunton and Corbin and Deborah Davis of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors on Friday, January 17, 2014 beginning 9:30 a.m. at the Central United Methodist Church located at 428 S. College Avenue in Salem. A memorial service will then follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kristin Holbrook officiating.
