Hazel Mae Underwood

Hazel Mae Underwood, 71, of Salem, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016. She was born December 5, 1944 in Salem, VA a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ruth Myrtle Blankenship Underwood. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Underwood and Billy Underwood. Hazel was a faithful member of Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem and retired from Virginia Plastics. She is survived by two brothers, James Underwood of Roseboro, NC and Douglas Underwood of Chicago, IL; sister, Martha Jenkins of Kernersville, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem. Pastor Brian Gordon will officiate. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke. Arrangements by John M.
