Hazel Gearheart Talley

Hazel Gearheart Talley, age 92, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, May 11, 2024. She was born on August 11, 1931, to the late Rev. and Mrs. Percy and Stella Richardson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, E.M. Talley; sisters, Lois Stanger, Arlene Harbert, Frances Bower, and Linda Koalkin; brother, Percy Richardson. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Rita G. Young; stepson, Mark Talley and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Reid Young and wife, Tracey, Autumn Atkins and husband, Aaron, Justin Young and wife, Heather; great-grandchildren, Lera, Olivia, Hollie, Mackenzie, Mason, Danielle, and Jessica; great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ezra; sisters, Mary Essmann, Martha Laper, and Sue Rackley; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished. The family will receive friends for a period of visitation at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. where a funeral service will begin promptly at 1 p.m., with Pastor Tim Gearhart and David Bower officiating.
