Harry L. 'Dune' Boone Jr.

Harry L. Boone Jr., 72, better known as Dune, of Salem, left this world on Monday, November 25, 2013 to join his wife, Phyllis H. Boone, on their new journey. Dune was a son of the late Harry L. and Annie Boone. Along with his parents and wife, a brother, Daniel Boone and a sister, Ruth Altis, precede him in death. Dune proudly served his country in the United States Navy, after his honorable discharge he went to work for the Salem, V.A. Medical Center until retirement, his hobbies included, hunting, hiking, and all things outdoors, he was known to many as a bluegrass and old time banjo picker and belonged to the Appalachian Trail Club. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Left behind to cherish his memories are his daughter, Leslie Anne Boone along with a life long friend of the family and her significant other, Ron Modale, six brothers, James Boone, William Boone and wife Sylvia, Roger Boone and wife Elaine, Richard Boone and wife Lee Ann, Charles Boone and wife Linda, and David Boone, two sisters, Sandra Boone, and Lorna Bragg and husband Jerry, along with a host of, nieces and nephews and other family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 6 until 8 PM at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, and a funeral service to honor the life of Dune Boone, will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel, Rev.
