Guy Albert Jenks Sr.

Guy Albert Jenks, Sr., 84, of Roanoke, was called home to dwell in the house of Lord, Sunday, August 5, 2018. Guy came from an extremely patriotic family whose family members fought in every major American armed conflict. He was the son of an immigrant. A Korean War veteran, Guy served on The Battle Wagon, USS New Jersey. He continued his career in the civil service where he then retired from Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillian Jenks; four brothers; one sister; one grandchild; and two wives, Adina Terry Jenks and Sarah Jane Jenks. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Guy Albert Jenks, Jr. and wife, Andrea, Timothy Lynn Jenks and wife, Hannah, and Kevin Sean Jenks and wife, Beige; mother of his children, Rosemarie Jenks; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; beloved nephew, Mike Whorley and wife, Martha; and numerous stepchildren, step-great, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Edward Bowman officiating. A committal will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
