Gloria Mounts

Gloria Conner Mounts, 76, of Roanoke, Va., passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born on September 19, 1949, in Salem, Virginia, daughter to Bertie R. Conner and the late Roy A. Conner. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Danny A. Conner and Melvin L. Conner; and a sister, Darlene Yates.

Gloria was a dedicated employee of Appalachian Power (AEP), where she worked for 44 years. She took great pride in her work and valued the relationships she built during her career. Even after retirement, Gloria remained in close contact with many of her coworkers, maintaining strong friendships that lasted throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Danny D. Mounts; her daughter, Kristin D. Miller (S. Andrew Miller); and her two grandchildren, Landon R. Miller and Greyson C. Miller, who were the light of her life. Known as "Gigi," she cared deeply for her grandchildren and spent nearly every day with them during their early childhood, creating memories and bonds that will be cherished forever.

Gloria is also survived by her mother, Bertie R. Conner; two brothers, Larry Conner and Ricky Conner (Freda); one sister, Shelva Spence; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, in Salem.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Chaplain Hilton Jeffreys will officiate. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke.
