Glenna McCroskey Staley, 74, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 19, 2012. Daughter of the late Campbell and Elizabeth McCroskey, she was born in Abingdon, VA on March 1, 1938. A graduate of Radford University School of Nursing, her 24 years as a registered nurse were served largely at Community Hospital of Roanoke. She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Salem. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Preston Staley; and a sister, Maxine Phillips of Chilhowie. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Lynne Staley of Vinton, and Helen Whitehurst and husband, David, of Richmond; son, Allen Staley of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Zachary and Madison Whitehurst of Richmond and Tyler, Samantha, and Tabitha Staley of St. Louis, MO; brother, Tommy McCroskey and wife, Belle, of Abingdon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at New Hope Presbyterian Church at 101 Keesling Avenue in Salem with Rev. Cameron Smith officiating. Mrs. Staley will be placed at the church one hour before the service, and burial will be held at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke.
