Glenna Mae Mowles 96, of Salem, left this home to join her husband, Oscar Preston Mowles, in their heavenly home on Wednesday May 8, 2013. She was born in Salem to the late Henry Jackson and Mell Sennie McCray. She was a life long area resident, a member of South Side Baptist Church, and worked in the greenhouse for Jobe Florist, but she was best known as a loving caregiver and homemaker for her family. Along with her husband, and parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers, Bob; Nathan; Heck; Fred; Preston; and Carl Edward McCray, two sisters, Lizzy Thomas; and Alice Hatcher, left behind to cherish her memories are her son, Ronnie Mowles; along with his girlfriend Brenda Stone, two daughters, Joan Lilly; and Betty Jane Winstead; along with her long time friend Carl Murcherson; one sister, Annie Cupp; eight grand children; fifteen great grand children; and two great great grand children, Alexis Hope James and Bryce Simpson. The family will receive friends on Friday May 10, 2013 from 5 to 8 PM at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service to honor the life of Glenna Mae Mowles, will take place on Saturday May 11, 2013 at 11 AM in the chapel of the funeral home, with pastor Bill Adkins officiating.
