Gladys Hunley

Gladys Peters Hunley, 101, of Roanoke, VA, went to be with her lord on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was born on December 28, 1921, to the late Lillie Thelma Boothe Peters, and Clifford Zechariah Peters. Gladys was a long-time member of Patterson Memorial Brethren Church. She enjoyed doing all types of puzzles in her free time and reading to learn new things. She also enjoyed collecting clippings from newspapers. Mrs. Hunley enjoyed watching her favorite game shows on television, the science channel and Lawrence Welk. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus M. Hunley; daughter, Eileen H. Stratidakis; sons, Jerry Michael, Ronald Wayne, and Mark Alvin Hunley; daughter-in-law, Susan J. Hunley; son-in-law, Rev. Roy C. Rogers; and all of her siblings. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Randall S. Hunley, and Karen H. Rogers; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Temple Guler. The family would like to sincerely thank the Nurses, Doctors, and Caretakers at Friendship North, and Lewis Gale Medical Center floor 3 East Nurses for their kindness, compassion, and care for Mrs. Hunley. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 1:30 P.M. at the Bandy Cemetery, 4451 Bandy Rd., Roanoke, VA 24014, with Pastors Herb Shaffer and JR Shelor officiating.
