Gladys Harris Andleton, 91, of Salem, Va., passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 20, 2023.
She was born July 14, 1932, and was the 13th child of 14. She had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed performing and writing music. She loved and supported her family. She retired from General Electric after 33.5 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter Number 161.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Andleton; children; Gerald Allen Hedrick Jr. (Ruth Gurusamy), Charles Hedrick, and Melissa Andleton Gaiser (Bryan); grandchildren, Julie Maley (Donald), Conrad Hedrick, Gerald Allen Hedrick III (Cynthia), Kristen Hopkins, Morgan Tucker, and Riley Gaiser; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Preston Harris; mother, Sudie Troutt Harris; first husband, Gerald Allen Hedrick Sr.; and numerous brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Morris Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke, Va.
