Gerritt Keefer Lansing, 92, of Salem and formerly of New York, passed away at Salem Health & Rehab on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Curtis Lansing, and a son, Edward Gerritt Lansing.
Mr. Lansing was retired from General Electric Company. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Jean M. Lansing; two sons, Charles Lansing and Scott Lansing; three daughters-in-law, Jane Lansing, Josie Lansing and Darline Lansing; step-daughter, Teresa M. Shull; ten grandchildren, Michael Lansing, Stephen Lansing, Kirk Lansing, Gerritt Lansing, Megan Lansing, Christopher Lansing, Cloe Lansing, Josie Lansing, Annabelle Lansing and Bethany Lansing; and his step-brother, Donald Kreutzer.
The family appreciates and thanks all of the friends who kept Gerritt in their thoughts and prayers. The family would also like to thank the personnel at Salem Health and Rehab Center for the wonderful care, love and compassion he received during his stay.
A memorial service to honor Mr. Lansings life will be conducted on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 42 East Main St., Salem, Va. with The Rev. James W. Lively and The Rev. Dr. David L. Dixon officiating.
A reception will follow at Hidden Valley Country Club.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Pauls Episcopal Church.
