Geri (Sissy) Worrell, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony S. Worrell; parents, Woodrow and Rosalie Abshire; sister, Rosemary (Rue) Abshire; and twin brother, Gerald (Sonny) Abshire. Her surviving family includes her children, Tony S. Worrell, Jr., Paul W. Worrell and wife, Dee Dee, and Maggie W. Sheppard and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Kayla, Kemper, Hannah, Trey, Maison, Rosella, and Lauren; mother-in-law, Frances Worrell; sisters-in-law, Vicki Abshire and Valerie Kincer and husband, Harvey; special grand-dog, Molly; and many other beloved family members and church friends. A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Elder W. T. Conner and Elder Junior Conner will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages charitable gifts be sent to Good Samaritan Hospice at 2408 Electric Road in Roanoke, Virginia 24018.
