Geraldine Ella Ludwick, 85, of Roanoke, Virginia peacefully passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Hermitage in Roanoke with Hospice and her niece, Ginny, at her side.
She was born on February 24, 1932 to the late John William Ludwick and Gertha Smoot Ludwick. Along with her parents, her brother, Thomas Jackson Petie Ludwick, would precede her in death.
Surviving her are her niece, Virginia Bell Ginny Martin of Blacksburg, VA and her great nephew, Jonathan Peter Petie Martin of Christiansburg; and brother-in-law Steve (Rose Anne) Bell of Knoxville, TN. Other nieces and nephews are Rodney (Karen) Bell of Lynchburg, VA; Michael (Carol) Bell of Atlanta, GA; Jackie (Bill) Triplett of Lexington Park, MD; Pam (Robert) Reed of Richmond, VA; Mary Ann (Charlie) Julg of Great Falls, MT; Doug (Arlene) Bell of Copper Hill, VA; Susie (Glenn) Johnson of Sandy, UT; and seven other great nieces and nephews and three great, great nieces and nephews; a special niece, Deidra (Steve) Gold of Chicago, IL as well as special friends Clair Lee, Chuck, Camilla, Barb, Marion, and many others.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Hermitage in Roanoke for their loving care, especially Jennifer, Pansy, and Linda, and Good Samaritan Hospice for their care, especially Janet Robertson.
Gerry graduated from Jefferson High School, Longwood College, and received a Masters Degree from Virginia Tech. She taught math for thirty years at Patrick Henry High School. She was an exchange teacher to Australia for two years. She loved teaching. She tutored students before and after school and always treated everyone fairly.
Gerry was very active in her church, Westminster Presbyterian. She was a member of Christian Endeavor for many years prior. She was very supportive of young people. She served as State President, Convention Chairman, and Sunshine Chairman. She participated in the womens groups and was a Woman of the Year. She sang alto in the choir for many years and participated in Sunday school.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Furman officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
