George Clayton Young

George Clayton Young, 87, of Salem, VA passed away surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. George is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Elizabeth young, three brothers and two sisters, three children Bobby, Larry, and Gary, and three grandchildren. George is survived by thirty one grandkids, forty three great grandchildren, and fourteen great great grandchildren. George will always be remembered for his dedicated work habits, spending most of his younger years working in the tobacco fields. He had a love for children, he often spoke of how much he cared for the students at the local school he worked at as a custodian. But his greatest love of all was his grandchildren. He was an avid story teller, many of which were based around his days in the tobacco fields, others could at times be chocked up to a good old tall tale. He cherished his family with an unconditional love. Arrangements are under the direction of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral home and Crematory.Interment Location
