George W. Mellon, 85, of Salem, passed away peacefully in his home Wednesday morning, August 25, 2021. He was born in Mascot, Tennessee, to Oscar and Elizabeth Maples Mellon. He attended Westside Church of Christ in Salem and retired from Highway Motors after a long career in the diesel truck parts business. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Beatte; and sisters Frankie Yates, Sherrie Alford, and Rebecca Whitening. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Mellon; brother Marty Mellon (Vicky) of Texas; two sons, Tony Mellon of Bay City, Michigan, and Shane Mellon (Michele) of Germany; daughter, Darlene Mellon-Anukpui (Patrick) of Salem; and three grandchildren, Zoey Anukpui, and Catherine and Cooper Mellon. Visitation will take place at the Westside Church of Christ in Salem on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 5 PM, with a memorial service following at 6 PM.
