George William Johnson Jr.

George W. Johnson, Jr., 62, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 11, 2018. He was born in Richmond, a son of the late George and Lucille Metz Johnson and had been an area resident for over twenty-five years. He was employed as an auto body technician at Berglund Body Works. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Reese Johnson; children, Jacob, Robyn, Nick and Kelsey Johnson; granddaughter, Elizabeth Brown; a brother, Richard Johnson and wife Julia; two sisters, Carol Huckstop and husband Don, and Anita Liebs and husband Sam; and his mother-in-law, Donna Harrison. Also surviving are many extended family members including numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere appreciation to the Berglund automotive family for their love and support. Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
