George Steven Beamer, 60, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He was a man of faith who loved the Lord and his church. Many souls were touched through his giving. George, Uncle Steven, loved to go fishing and enjoyed family gatherings. He was a long time employee at Lakeside Kroger. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, George Elwood and Hilda Poff Beamer; and two brothers, Alan Lewis Beamer and Roy Michael Beamer. He is survived by his brother, Barry Elwood Beamer (Mary Lou); sister-in-law, Shirley Wagner; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, April 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Bryan Buckles at the funeral home. An interment will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church, Salem.
