Gary Wayne Hartman

Gary Wayne Hartman, 54, of Salem went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013. He was born on September 1, 1958 in Roanoke, Va. to the late Harry Elwood and Katherine M. Hartman. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Salem. He loved his motorcycles, and enjoyed attending and being part of local truck shows, as he loved showing off his truck. He was employed as a truck driver for over 32 years of service, and has built numerous friendships within the industry. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Ann Hartman; son, Randy Hartman; step-son, Charles Wilson and wife, Tina; brothers, William Hartman and wife, Teresa, and Paul A. Hartman; grandson, Damien Wilson; nephews, Billy Joe Hartman and Garrett Hartman; niece, Heather Nicole Peters; mother-in-law, Ellen Petersen; and loving cats, Holly, Bailey and Bianca. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Amos Family Cemetery in Boones Mill.
