Garon Ray "Smoky" Bowles, 42, of Salem, Va, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, was tragically taken from us on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Born Friday, April 1, 1983, to Reamona Coffey and James Shively in Roanoke, Va.

Smoky worked as an electrician and forged many wonderful friendships along the way. He absolutely loved spending time outdoors, whether he was out hunting in the beautiful landscape or just soaking up the sun. There was something special about being surrounded by nature that made him feel alive. When he wasn't wandering through the woods, he enjoyed listening to music and hanging out with friends was always a highlight for him too; he cherished those moments filled with laughter, fun stories, and unforgettable adventures that turned ordinary days into great memories.

Preceding him in death include his grandparents, Marilyn and Louis Bowles, Betty Hodges, and Junior Shively; stepfather "Dad", David Coffey, as well as Steve Hodges, Jason Arthur, Kermit Arthur, and Heather Mills.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his fiancé, Mary Lucado; siblings, Brittany Shelton (Jake), Sam Coffey, Taylor Coffey and Trevor Sage; nieces and nephews, Joshua, Brooklyn, Izzy, Breyden, Ahren, Kinsley and Lainey; uncles, Paul Bowles (Missy), Billy Arthur (Thelma), and Randy Arthur (Sandra); aunts, Laura (Jason), Judy Stone, and Trish Tincher; as well as his cousins, Hannah, Jake, Jodie, Chris, Randy Ray, Brandy Gail, Dakota, Matt, Casey, Nathan, and Jamie Hill.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 2 until 4 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, in Salem.

A celebration of Garon's life will be held directly after, starting at 4 p.m., in the funeral home's chapel. Pastor Terry Ishee will officiate.
