Freda Diana Gibson

Freda Diana Gibson, 62, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, surrounded by loved ones, family, and friends. An area resident her whole life, she was born on July 5, 1951 to the late William R. and Lillian Elizabeth Underwood Trail. Through all her loss, her grief, and her struggles, she showed her love for family, her strength and toughness, and most of all, the ability to be the best mom you could be blessed with. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Gibson; and son, Bruce Saunders. Surviving her are her loving sons, Billy S. Gibson, and James E. Saunders and family; her very caring sister Patricia J. Trail; brothers, Danny L. Trail, George J. Trail, and Lewis S. Trail; very special niece, Rhonda Moreno; and many loving grandchildren, a great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
