Frank Dewey Morris, Jr., 85, of Roanoke, went to be with his Lord on Monday, April 4, 2011. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during WWII. Professionally, he worked in retail for Sydneys as a buyer and retired after many years. Music played a very significant roll in his life. He was a baritone soloist for many churches in the area as well as with the Roanoke Choral Society and the Roanoke Opera. Frank also directed the Roanoke Chamber Singers for several years. A Toastmaster, he was an accomplished public speaker ranked, at one time, 3rd in the world. He was also a talented calligraphist. Franks church membership was held at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Juanita Campbell Morris; and son, Bruce Morris. His surviving family includes his wife of 12 years, JoEllen Morris; sons, Frank Dewey Morris III and Scot Morris and wife, Delta; stepson, Paul Arnette and wife, Samantha; former daughter-in-law, Cindy Morris; grandchildren, Melanie, Chrissy, David, Nathan, and Lindsay; and several great-grandchildren. A period of visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. The funeral service will then begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Dr. F. Tupper Garden will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Franks name may be made to either the American Heart Association at 4504 Starkey Road Suite 115 in Roanoke, Virginia 24018 or to the Scholarship Fund of the Thursday Morning Music Club at PO Box 2012 in Roanoke, Virginia 24009.
