Frank Samuel Brown

Frank Samuel (Sammy) Brown, 77, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. He was a proud veteran having retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service, and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 13 years of service. His church membership was held at Glenvar Baptist Church, and he enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and wood-cutting. Preceding him in death was a brother, William E. Brown; and two grandchildren he never had the opportunity of holding until now. His surviving family includes his wife of 55 years, Peggy J. Brown; children, Sharon L. Kilbane and husband, David, Brenda G. Sandidge and husband, Jeffery, and Sandy K. Joanis and husband, Allen; grandchildren, Christopher Kilbane and wife, Jessica, Michelle Brown and fianc, A.J. Martin, and Will Joanis; and many other family members. A period of visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Myron Powell will officiate.
