Francis H. 'Frank' Butler

Francis H. Frank Butler, 75 of Salem, VA passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011. He was born June 19, 1935 in Salem, VA son of the late Walter M. and Trula Bain Butler. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Walter M. Butler, Jr., George C. Butler, William Butler and John H. Butler. Mr. Butler retired from Medeco and worked for ITT for 16 years. He was an ambassador to the CyberKnife program through Carilion Cancer Center. He was an avid fisherman, loved boating, coached youth baseball and once played Minor League Baseball. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and had a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor. He was an honorary Ranger at Greenhill Park where he visited daily to feed the squirrels. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Rae Butler; children, Margaret Butler Ambrose and husband, Michael, Debora Butler West and husband, Brian, Brian Scott Butler and wife, Iryna and Patricia Diane Hope and husband, Troy C.; grandchildren, Marlena, Jennafer, Stacie, Brian,II, Thomas C. and Ivanna; great-granddaughter, Anaiah; sisters, Mary V. Butler Smith and Sarah L. Butler Tuckwiller; and beloved canine companion, Pixie. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Monday, April 11, 2011 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
