Frances E. Wade, 94, of Salem, was welcomed safely into the arms of everlasting love, on Sunday, February 10, 2013.
She was born in Eden, NC, a daughter of the late Spencer L. Eure and Molly Davis Eure, and had also resided in Danville for over 50 years prior to locating to the Salem area in 1997. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Salem and was a proud 10 year cancer survivor. A multi talented and crafty lady, Frances enjoyed working with her hands, sewing and designing various textiles, making stuffed animals and even making the screen door for the house. She was a to do person. Her greatest joy by far was her family, especially her darling grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee Wade, who passed away in 2008, a grandson, Byron E. Wade, four brothers and four sisters,
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn W. Wilkerson; two sons, Carl V. Wade and his wife Judy; Rabbi Dr. Asher Spencer Wade and his wife Naomi; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Richfield Recovery and Care Center, for the love and care shown to Frances during her time there.
A graveside service will be held at 1PM, Monday, February 18, 2013 at Mt. View Cemetery in Danville (behind Averett College). The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM, Sunday, February 17, 2013 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the First United Methodist Church, 125 West Main St. Salem, VA 24153.
