Evelyn Helton Mathias

Evelyn Helton Mathias, 89, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in a local nursing home. Her parents, Denton and Grace Helton, preceded her in death as well as a sister, Lillian H. Lawrence. Her surviving family includes a brother, Don Helton and wife, Carolyn; a sister, Opal H. Willard; and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn married and moved to Virginia Beach and lived there for over 50 years, moving back to Salem only when she became ill. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
