Evelyn Hope Frank

Evelyn Hope Frank, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret Frank, late of Salem and by her younger brother, Jerry Stephen Frank, late of Wichita Falls, TX. She is survived by her brother, Robert G. Frank of Roanoke; two sisters-in-law, Clare Browning of Wichita Falls, TX and Vivian B. Frank of Roanoke; nephews, Stephen, Bruce, James, Hixon, Glenn and Brian Frank, as well as eleven great nieces and nephews. Hope graduated from Andrew Lewis High School, Longwood College and received her Masters Degree from Ohio State University. She had a varied professional career as a Home Services Director for Appalachian Power, Recreation Director for Army Special Services in Germany and Japan, Director of Home Services for Washington Gas Co., Director, Magic Chef of Cleveland, TN and retired as a Director with the Food and Drug Administration. Hopes enthusiasm for helping those less fortunate than herself was unlimited. For thirty years, she corresponded with, financially supported and encouraged young girls in China and Thailand toward a better life. Her generosity was so well known that her mail box was always full of requests for aid. Hope loved College Lutheran Church and was an active member. She also loved cats and rescued and socialized many cats throughout her life. A memorial service will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at College Lutheran Church, 210 S. College Ave. Salem, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Roanoke Valley SPCA, 1340 Baldwin Ave., N.E. Roanoke VA 24012.
