Eunice Dalton Simmons, 74, of Salem, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012. She was born on September 9, 1937 in Roanoke to the late G.B. and Della Huff Dalton. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mickey Simmons; an infant son; other sons, Randy Simmons and Gary Simmons; brother, Earl; and sister, Elsie. Her surviving family includes her son, Larry M. Simmons and wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Paul Simmons and wife, Jen, Liza Simmons, Michelle Sachenbacher and husband, Thomas, and Matthew Simmons and wife, Danyelle; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother; daughter-in-law, Kathy Simmons; special friend to the family, Anthony Stevens; and beloved dog, Katie. A period of visitation will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. Pastor Paul Stover will officiate.
