Eula Savannah Francisco Simmons, of Salem, born on July 23, 1917 to the late Charles and Lula Stanley Francisco, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the age of 96. She was a former member of Masons Cove Church of the Brethren and attended New Creation Ministries. She worked various jobs in her early years, was a homemaker later in life, and one of the great cooks in the family. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husbands, George Anthony Simmons and Stephen Ellis Simmons; daughter, Barbara Ann Barnes; grandson, Thomas Anthony Barnes; brothers, Ted, Clayton, Charles, Jr., and Jerry Francisco; and sisters, Beaulah Campbell, Blanche Edwards, and Eva Meador. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Helen Claudine Rivenbark, Deborah Lynn Simmons, and Tina Marie Cantrell and husband, Lonnie; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lottie Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Hazel Francisco, Eleanor Francisco, Maxine Francisco, Frances Simmons, and Mary Conner; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Chris Kingery will officiate.
