English Thomas "Tom" Lester

English Thomas "Tom" Lester, 80, of Salem, Va. and formerly of Richlands, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 6, 1939 in Tazewell County, Va. to the late John Paul and Mabel Louise Blankenship Lester. Tom was a man that was full of wisdom and faith. Although he battled with earthly suffering for the past several years, his faith was never shaken and his love for God was steadfast! So many family and friends looked to Tom for guidance and he never ceased to share the road map he so greatly loved, Gods holy word. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Robbie Lester and Joey Lester; sisters, Ruth Sword and Ann Lester; and his brother, David Lester. Family remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of 21 years, Ann Willis Lester; children, Tommy and wife, Karan, Jamie, and Steve Lester, Tommy Osborne, Misty Reyes, Bobby Inman, Sara Bair, and Daril Dotson; sister, Nancy Pace; numerous nieces and nephews; and several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services to honor Tom's life will be conducted on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 2 pm at John M, Oakey and Son funeral home in Salem with Pastor Mike Barnette officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
