Emily Ware Shenal

Emily Ware Shenal, 76, of Salem, Va., passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. She cared for so many as a registered nurse and especially as the loving wife, mother, and grandmother she was. She had a deep appreciation for music and art, and expressed much of her talent by way of piano and watercolor. She loved fun, had a great sense of humor, and will perhaps be best known for being a parrothead. Preceding her in death was her mother, Mildred Ware; father, James Ware; brother, Jim Ware; and husband of 50 years, Johnny V. John Shenal. Her surviving family includes her children, Brian Shenal and wife, Cathy, and Kelly Grigg and husband, Brad; and grandchildren, Ben Shenal, Bradley Grigg, Jonathan Shenal, and Lexi Grigg. The family expresses appreciation to the Brandon Oaks community for being a part of her life. All are invited to celebrate Emilys life at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va., on Friday, December 1, 2023, beginning with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Alan Combs will officiate, and Mr. Aaron Garber will serve as accompanist.
