Emily Grace Harp

Emily Grace Harp, 10, of Salem, went to be in the arms of God on Friday, December 2, 2011. She attended West Salem Elementary, but was a special student across the entire Salem Public School System. Emily loved her adventurous road trips with the windows down and the music up, and her sweet and spunky personality was adored by everyone who knew her. Her surviving family includes her mother, Jeannie R. Harp; siblings, PFC Michael C. Harp, Mary C. Harp, and Samuel E. Harp; great uncle and great aunt, Tom and Betty Clifton; and many other special family members, classmates, and friends. A service celebrating Emilys life will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 6 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A period of visitation will then follow until 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the many doctors and staff members at both the Roanoke Memorial Hospital and the University of Virginia Medical Center for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emilys name may be made to the Downs Syndrome Association of Roanoke at PO Box 4683 in Roanoke, VA 24015.
