Elsie Marie Pugh

Elsie Marie Pugh, age 89, of Botetourt County formerly of Christiansburg, Va. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, in Roanoke, Va. She was born on Friday, November 1, 1929, to the late Myrtle Woods Foutz and Samuel Oakey Foutz. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. On Wednesday evening she awoke in heaven surrounded by her loved ones that preceded her home going. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pugh; grandparents, Zyla and Jim Martin; brothers, Samuel Oakey Foutz, Jr. and Charles Foutz; and her sister, Virginia Swain. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Marlene Cox and husband, Samuel and Brenda Aleshire and David Benson; grandchildren Michelle and Ronnie Yopp, Deborah and Mike Ayers, Sharon Thompson, Doyle Guilliams, Jared and Alisha Cox, Amanda and Drew Glupker; great-grandchildren, Ashley Wilcher and Kali Hill, Britney Ayers and Mic Simmons, Dustin Carroll and Arland Carroll, DJ Thompson and Jamie Phillippe, Corey Ayers and April Ayers, Nicolas Thompson and Destiny Thompson, Brooke Yopp and Jeffrey Stultz, Jr., Chase Thompson, Brody Cox, Emery Cox, Ella Cox, Bentley Glupker, Michayla Glupker, and Grant; great-great-grandchildren, Kynzie Grace, Gracie, Raelynn, Raine, Landen, Laci, Laila, Havoc, and Colt; and special friend, Brantley Meddidings; as well as other family and friends too numerous to name. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg, Va. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
