Elsie Kathleen Beckner Giles

Elsie Kathleen Beckner Giles, 90, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jaybez and Sadie Beckner; her husband of 62 years, Harry Giles; brothers, Dewey, Ray, Leroy and Ernest Beckner, and her sister, Margaret Mitchell. Family left to cherish her memory includes her sons, Ted (Carolyn) Giles of Virginia Beach, VA, and Bob (Debbie) Giles of Roanoke; grandchildren, Robyn (Mills) Eure of Elizabeth City, NC, Angela Beasley of Vinton, VA, Sherry and Scott Nicely of Virginia Beach, VA; great-grandchildren, Nicole (Travis) Miller, Zachary Nicely and Aiden Beasley; great-great-grandchild, Lucy Miller; brothers, George Beckner of Westerville, OH, Paul Beckner of Tupelo, MS, and Harry Lee Beckner of Salem, VA; sister, Betty (Billy) Goad of Salem, VA, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services honoring Ms. Giles will be conducted on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Roanoke. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions are made to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank all of the staff, and Dr. Haider at Richfield Recovery and Care, for the love and care you provided to our loved one.
