Elizabeth Sellers Shelor

Elizabeth (Betty) Sellers Shelor, 84, of Salem and Bedford, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015. She was a lifelong member of Salem Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir during her earlier years. Betty was a huge Virginia Tech fan, but above all cherished time with her family. She will be remembered most as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death were her parents, William R. and Elizabeth B. Sellers; sister, Gene S. Vaughan; daughter-in-law, Pat Shelor; and husband of 51 years, Neal E. Shelor. Her surviving family includes her children, Bill Shelor and girlfriend, Cyndi Rucker-Staton, Ray Shelor and wife, Debbie, Jean Field and husband, Jeff, and Charlie Shelor and girlfriend, Sharon Shrader; sister, Mary S. Hailey; grandchildren, Jeremie Shelor and wife, Tabitha, Nic Shelor and wife, Amber, Brennan Lee, Jaime Brugh and husband, Jamey, Whitney Shelor, Matthew Field, and Josh Field and fiance, Amanda Moss; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Joyce Mitchell. The family expresses a sincere thanks to the Richfield Retirement Community for their special care. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Salem Presbyterian Church with Dr. Will Robinson officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Presbyterian Church Music Fund at 41 East Main Street in Salem, Va. 24153.
