Elizabeth Jane (Furrow) Jessee, 87, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on December 12, 2023.
Jane is survived by her older sister, Judith Marshall of Roanoke, Va.; and her six children, David Watson and wife, Iris, of Germany, Robin Hofler and husband, Richard, of Florida, Cindy Harrison of Florida, Robert Watson of Colorado, Michael Jessee of Florida, and John Jessee and wife, Heather, of Indiana. She has seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Samuel, Avery, Jack, Allysse, Elizabeth, and Eddie; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews whom she was very close with.
Jane was born in Augusta County, Virginia, but grew up in the Roanoke and Salem, Virginia area. She attended Andrew Lewis High School before enlisting in the Navy, serving at Naval Station Norfolk as a WAVE Seaman Apprentice.
Jane left the Navy to start her family. She was a gifted pianist and organist, often volunteering to play for local churches and she taught private piano lessons while her children were growing up. Jane also found time for a professional career, where she excelled in sales, specializing in the hospitality industry.
Jane loved to travel and lived in several different states in the southeast during her lifetime. But throughout her travels, the Blue Ridge Mountains were always home, and Virginia remained close to her heart. Those who knew Jane often described her as witty, charming, lively, and professional.
She retired to the Orlando, Florida area to be closer to family; however, she continued to enjoy working in sales up until her final days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Elizabeth (Mayo) Furrow; along with her brothers and sisters, Minnie Marguerite Charles, Hayden M Furrow, John H. Furrow, and Virginia F. Swann.
