Eglenna Mae Cassell, 73, of Salem, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
She was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Robert Newton Foster and Mary Lee Owen Foster and had been an area resident all of her life. She was a registered nurse and was employed at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Lewis Gale Medical Center prior to retiring. She attended Emmaus Road Unity Church and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Cassell, who died in 1985.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Cassell and his wife Lynn; a daughter, Eglenna G. Gibson and her husband Timothy; her brother, Bobby Foster and his wife Mariah; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, an aunt, Betty Cooper, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Pastor Barry Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill UMC Cemetery in Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Friday at the funeral home.
