Edith Witt Hardison, 80, of Vinton, VA formerly of Elliston, VA, and Roanoke, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. She was born on Monday, March 29, 1943, to the late Raymond M. and Martha Ellen Witt, in Elliston, VA. Edith enjoyed shopping, traveling, and working on crossword puzzles in her free time. She attended Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, and she loved to read her bible. Edith had the toughest career there is, caring for others. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Rebecca Asabelle Carrico Melton, and Daniel Wyatt Melton; sister, Pauline Parrish; brothers, Leeroy Witt; and Russ Brown.
She is survived by her children, Donald R. Hardison, Pamela Hardison Willard, and Alvina Hardison Taylor and husband, Jerry; grandchildren, Adrian D. Wooldridge, Jonathan K. Willard and wife, Alexa, and Jaden Taylor; great-grandchildren, Ashton Wooldridge, Zavian Willard, Ezaius Willard, and Amias Willard; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Pastor Thomas Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke.
Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
