Earl W. Moore, 83, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017. He was a retired captain of the Roanoke City Fire Department after nearly 27 years of service, and held his church membership at Ridgewood Baptist. Preceding him in death were his parents, Noah B. and Bonnie S. Moore; sister, Nita Hill; and brothers, Paulus Moore and wife, India Lou, and Jimmy Moore. His surviving family includes his wife, Barbara M. Moore; children, Deborah Wynn (Greg Trevillian), Karen Wilson, and Kenneth King and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Lucas King, Chace Wilson, Grace King, Erin Beard, and Zachary Beard; great-grandchild, Declan Beard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in the funeral homes chapel with Rev. Roy Kanode officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
