Dorrine Edna Jessee, 75, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday March 13, 2012. She was the daughter of Nicolas and Dora Williams. She was a faithful and loving wife to her late husband Houston A. Jessee for almost fifty years and a beloved mother and friend. Preceding her in death was her daughter Mary Diane Jessee and her brothers Nick Williams and Donald Williams. She is survived by her daughters Sonia Marie Frith, Patricia Lenore Dato, and Teresa Lorrine Crowe; her sons Houston Douglas Jessee and Daniel Calvin Jessee; her sisters Martha McGuire and Becky Armstong, and her brother Johnny Williams, 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Dorrine devoted her life to her family and her church. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Salem for over thirty years. She was treasured by so many in the community, and adored by her immediate and extended family. She served her country as a committed Air Force wife and mother, traveling extensively throughout the US and abroad during Houstons twenty years of service. Dorrine will be remembered for her abundant generosity, vibrant personality and the warmth and love she brought to the lives of those around her.
Finally, the family would like to extend our deep love and gratitude to Becky Armstrong for the selfless and loving care she bestowed upon Dorrine during these last difficult months.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Friday, March 16, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Father Kevin Segerblom will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The family suggests memorials be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 314 Turner Rd. Salem, VA 24153.
