Dorothy Ann Ratliff, 79, of Salem went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 26, 2013. She was born on August 2, 1933 in Evington, VA to the late Robert and Mattie Johnson. She was an active life-long member of First Christian Church of Salem, and will always be remembered for loving her Lord. Prior to retiring with 20 years of service, she was a loyal employee of Valleydale as personnel manager, and enjoyed her active involvement as a representative of Avon. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Rescue Mission, and thoroughly enjoyed volunteering. She loved the outdoors and her avid walks. She loved family gatherings as her family was most important to her. Above all she will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will truly be missed. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Ratliff; son, Dean Ratliff and wife, Lisa; daughters, Donna Keeley and husband, Dan, and Linda Andrew and husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Brian, Laura, Kate, Nathan, Jacob and Seth. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Burial Park in Roanoke. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to First Christian Church, 712 Front Ave., Salem, VA 24153. The family would like to offer special thanks to the nursing staff on 4 West at Richfield as well as Good Samaritan Hospice for all of their loving care and attention.
